Let's Play Catch!

Hi Everyone,
Here are some things we had at home to play catch with!

Today I am posting a 3 minute work-out video for you, a video of how to play the catching game "six and switch", videos of a couple catching tricks/stunts, and a dance video for the fun of it!  Check out the links below.  Enjoy!

Catching Game - Six and Switch
Directions:  Gather some items you can play catch with (ask your parents first ;-).  Catch 6 in a row, then switch to the next item.  You can play alone or with a partner.  Remember to have READY HANDS for catching!
Here is how you can play at home if you are stuck inside (click for link)

Here is how we play this at school (click for link)

Catching Tricks/Stunts

Toss it up, clap once, then catch it.  If you can do it, then add another clap.  Toss, clap 2 times, then catch.  Keep adding more claps if you can!

This is fun and easy to follow along with!  I taught this dance a few years ago to my P.E. classes and they really enjoyed it!  (click for link)

Here are some items we played catch with inside the house!
Our dog also likes to play catch!

Staying Active Over Break

Happy Spring!  Check out the links below for activities and exercises you can do today and over the weekend.

Push-Up ChallengeVideo demonstration of my 5th graders.   You can do this at home by yourself or with your brothers/sisters.  Use a stuffed animal if you don't have a ball.  How many can you do?

Curl-Up ChallengeVideo demonstration of my students.  You can also do this by yourself at home by hooking your feet under your coach.  Put your stuffed animal on the couch too so they can "help you count".  :-)  How many can you do?

Basketball Challenge:  If you have a basketball and hoop at home, play HOT SHOT (click for a video demonstration).  How many baskets can you make in one minute?  Play as many rounds as you can!

Don't have a basketball?  Use a soccer ball, baseball, or other ball to practice your kicking, throwing or catching.

Dancing Challenge:  Click on the links below for some dances!

Workouts and Activities to do at Home

Hi Everyone,

We've only been off of school for three days and I already miss my students so much!  I hope everyone is staying healthy and trying to keep a positive attitude.  The sun is shining today here in Michigan, and I am thankful for that!   Please take a look at the links below.  There is a short exercise video for you to follow along with, and some jump rope challenges.  Try to get outside in the fresh air and do something active like take a walk, bike ride, roller blade, or just run around your yard!  If you can't get outside, do some dancing inside!
