Back to School 2026-2027!

Welcome back to school!  As your child's PE teacher, my goal is to provide a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment.  Your child will be learning a variety of physical activities this year which can benefit them for a lifetime!

This year I have a student teacher, Brendon Jameson.  He is from GVSU and will be teaching with me the first semester.  More information about Brendon is below.

We are excited to start the school year and welcome all of our students!  Each student has PE once per week for 45 minutes.  Please come prepared with gym shoes and a water bottle.

Mr. Brendon - PE Student Teacher
My name is Brendon Jameson. I am a senior at Grand Valley State University. I am working towards getting my Health and Physical Education degree. I have always loved physical activity, which lead to me playing sports all my life. I wanted to become a teacher to show the importance of activity in a student's academic journey.  My biggest goal as a teacher is to make a difference in kids' lives like teachers have made in mine. I am a middle child from Otsego Michigan and some of my favorite hobbies when I’m not teaching are baking sweets, barbecuing, watching sports, and spending time with the ones I love! I’m ecstatic to be teaching this year and watching how I can grow under a professional's help.

Mrs. Glanzman PE Teacher

I graduated from GVSU with a Bachelor of Science degree, majoring in Movement Science and minoring in Elementary Education.  I have a master’s degree in adult and higher education.  I have been teaching PE since 2005. I am married to my husband Jim, and we have two children.  Our family loves sports!  Our favorites are basketball, tennis, football and volleyball.  In the summer, I enjoy playing tennis almost every morning!  Our family loves spending time on Lake Michigan.

Dance Party for Physical Education Class

It's that time of year again when we prepare for our PE Dance Party!  It's been my tradition to have a Dance Party with each of my classes the week before Spring Break.  We have so much fun!

Preparation:
Prior to the Dance party, we learn about the benefits of dancing.  We also practice our group dances and freestyle dancing so everyone feels ready and confident during the dance party.  I ask families for donations of glow sticks so that every student can have a couple of glow sticks at the dance party.

Set Up:
I hang streamers in the doorway for students to walk through as they enter the gym.  I set up lots of LED and disco lights.  The gym looks amazing!  I also purchase foam glow wands for each student to use during the dance party.  Here is a video clip of students entering (click here).

Rules:
Here is a short video explaining my rules and lesson plan for the dance party (click here).

Group Dances:
Each year we participate in several well-known group dances.  Here is a list of some that may be included.  (DJ Raphi on YouTube is a great resource for the group dances).
Cupid Shuffle
YMCA
Cotton Eyed Joe (4th grade demo click here).  my students performed this for an assembly one year)
Macarena
Hokey Pokey
Party Freeze Dance
Partner Dance - Buffalo Girls (click here for video demonstration)
Circle Dance - Buffalo Girls (click here for video demonstration)

The last 10-15 minutes of the dance party consists of Freestyle Dance.  I play a variety of music for students to dance to.  I also project a Slideshow on the wall with ideas of dance moves.  Students can follow along with the samples or create their own dance moves.
